Veidekke ASA: To build school on Askøy
Veidekke Entreprenør has been awarded the contract to build a new school building and to remodel parts of Tveit school on Askøy outside Bergen. The contract with Askøy municipality is a general contract valued at close to NOK 130 million, excluding VAT.
The project will provide the school with more classrooms and group rooms, a new library and a new multi-purpose hall with a stage, gym and accompanying changing rooms. The new school building will be four stories in height and will be linked to the existing school building, which will also undergo some remodelling. The combined gross area for the new building and remodelled area in the project is approximately 7,100 m², and the school will have a capacity of around 600 pupils from the first to seventh grade when all works are completed.
The new building and parts of the existing building will be built with significant focus on indoor climate, and the school will be heated by environmentally friendly energy wells. Outdoor facilities will also be subject to extensive upgrades with a new parking lot, adjustment of Kollevågveien, rebuilding of the football pitch, the establishment of external roads, ramps and stairs, and a play area with a wooden walkway and playground equipment that invites physical exertion.

Work will start on 1 December, and the new building will be ready for the start of the school term in the autumn of 2018. The upgrade of the existing building is scheduled for completion by February 2019.
